english usage question #1

boxing nun puppert(a two part question)

When you change the parameters of an experiment to get the results you want, are you “manipulating” the experiment or the results?

If it’s easy to make these changes, which phrase would you use: “easily manipulable”, “easily manipulatable” or “easily manipulated”?

I’m starting to feel like using any form of “manipulate” when you’re not actually using your hands should be a no-no.

To my ears, the third sounds the best. The first sounds the greasiest, though, so if you are really screwing with some sort of experiment it’s likely the best option.
